Let’s be real here. Though some people watch the Oscars to see their favorite actors and actresses take home that coveted golden statue, the POLISHED gals watch it for the fashion. We love to gape at the gowns as they seem to float down the red carpet. Here are some of our favorites!

Gleaming in a metallic gold gown with embroidered flowers around the neckline, Sandra Bullock looked like a knock out. The pop of color with the red lips and the sleek hair offset the gown with perfection. Maybe dressing like the statuette brought her some luck since she walked away as a winner!

Dressed in Oscar de la Renta, Cameron Diaz went for an old school Hollywood glam look with this sparkling embellishments and soft waves in hair.

I instantly had chills the moment Mo’Nique’s name was called as a winner for the best Supporting Actress award in Precious. She looked like a goddess in this Tadashi Shoji, and the electric blue perfectly complimented her skin tone.

Depending on who you talked to, critics loved Zoe Saldana’s gown or despised it. We too felt rather torn about this Givenchy gown. The unusual ruffling at the hem is what through us off; however, there’s no denying that this gown caught our attention and in a sea of silver, gold and blah gowns won’t be forgotten.

Spring is upon us and if you are anything like me, you’ve started to switch out your winter wardrobe into your spring/summer clothes. As your pulling out your cute tanks tops and summer dresses, ask yourself this… Are your girls sitting as pretty as they could be? If you had to think about it for longer than 3.456 seconds then it is likely that you need some 911 bra assistance- Read on!!

Schedule a professional Bra fitting Most women are surprised to learn they are wearing the wrong size bra. The correct size bra adjusted appropriately can make a world of difference in how you look and feel in your clothes.

Chantelle Intimates ‘Sensua’ Convertible Bra

Natori ‘136001′ Contour Underwire Bra

Do you have the 2 types of bras you need?

1) Everyday – This bra should be comfortable with the appropriate amount of support for an active day.

2) Adorned bras – Worn on Valentine’s Day, special occasions or just because you feel sexy in my own skin. These bras are usually more elaborate in style and design. Don’t skimp on this!

Invest, Invest, Invest – I say this time and time again – you get what you pay for. Quality is necessary for a great everyday bra that is going to last and keep you uplifted all day long. Spend the extra dollars, it’s worth it.

Tricks of the Trade To camouflage a little extra around the middle, I’ve got the best trick for you, which I learned in Europe a few years ago after delivering my beautiful set of twin boys! Try wearing a light weight cami under your clothes to smooth you out! I prefer the ones that are 100% cotton so that they don’t stretch, gives a little extra oomph.

Stop doing your body and clothes a disservice by wearing the wrong bra. Getting measured can take inches of your frame and improve your self-image. So what are you waiting for?

What are essentials when it comes to a wardrobe? They are timeless pieces that every woman must (or should) have in her wardrobe that create a solid foundation for a workable wardrobe no matter what the current trends are. The pencil skirt. Perfect for work, looks fierce for cocktails after and will carry you through every season, the pencil skirt is an essential. Did I mention it makes every body have a vixenesque hour glass shape? If you do not yet have one, a note to the wise – good quality comes at a price and well-made pencil skirt is an investment!

Known for his squeaky- clean, classic all-American designs, Tommy Hilfiger’s fall collection was named “Preppy with a Pop” where he chose classic styles (circa 1985)and fused it with current “pop” for women and men. Focused on ‘wearability’, Hilfiger chose ivy league-inspired styles including khakis, flannel shorts, pea coats and cardigans. Layered styles for women and men included rich colors such as heather grey, camel, green, and navy, which are perfect for the fall, in all natural fabrics such as leather, cashmere, flannel and mohair. For women, snakeskin bags, duck boots and skinny belts were common among the accessories. Once again, Hilfiger knocked it out of Bryant Park and scored one for the modern prep!

1) Tights Galore From red and green, patterned and polka dots, the louder and brighter the tights…the better!

2) Fall Colors The color palette is simple- stick to navy blue, crimson, ivory and a mustard yellow for accents.

4) Collarless & Boxy Blazers Reminiscent of the blazers originated by Coco Chanel, these timeless blazers can be worn to a corporate event or casually over jeans.

It’s February and the two blizzards that paralyzed the DC area last week caused many to have severe cabin fever, which could only be cured by online shop-therapy. Despite the frigid weather it’s hard to resist purchasing those springy outfits when all the designers are parading their newest spring goods. No I can’t wait till it’s warmer – I need it now! l admit that I have fallen into this trap so many times, but last week was particularly bad when I just had to have this peachy pink, sleeveless shift dress complete with small lilac detailing from J.Crew- adorable.

Maybe my logic behind this purchase was that buying this dress would make spring come faster. The problem is when I finally received the dress in the mail, I didn’t think I could wear it anytime soon. How could I winterize this? I was stumped. What was a fashionista to do? Bring in the professional, Robin. Slightly annoyed with myself, I tweeted the dress to her asking how on earth I could pull this oh-so-springy ensemble off in the dead of winter. (Was that even possible?) In 40 short minutes, she had created a whole look on polyvore and directed me to this ingenious look.

Items in this set: Lilac shower shift dress – J.Crew Item 23930 Light Ginger, $70, Coat, $1,930, Boots|Shoes:High Heel Boots,Women’s Sexy Boots,Thigh High…, $22, MARC JACOBS, 895 EUR, ASOS | ASOS Croc Tuck Lock Clutch at ASOS, 225 SEK

Robin paired the shift dress with leggings (my favorite!) with these thigh-high boots or as I refer to them the ‘I have arrived’ boots. Since no outfit is polished without the necessary accessories, Robin selected this bangle set, light pink earrings and a bold ring. She choose two purse options: an oversized Marc Jacobs bag for day and this crocodile skin clutch for night. The cherry on top was this double-breasted, black jacket, which is essential in this bone-chilling weather. Voila! Robin performed her magic with a few clicks and an eye for fashion. It just goes to show you even a POLISHED gal needs a few lessons from the expert from time to time!

Voluminous sleeves in blouses and dresses added a dramatic element to the collection as well as the the incorporation of fur details. Trumpet silhouette evening gowns dazzled with its meticulous beading and ruffle details. The models wore a smoky eye with accented cheekbones in hues of copper and burnt orange, while the hair was a smooth, polished straight line parted down the middle and behind the eyes.

Fashion designer and style icon, Diane Von Furstenberg brought the metallics to the forefront for Fall 2010! Get out your pen and paper, because here is a first look at what you can look forward to wearing this fall.

1) Metallics, metallics, metallics! From dresses to blazers, detailing on cardigans and skirts, shimmering in gold and silver (especially) is a must this fall

2) Psychadelic 70s prints Straight out of the 70s, these prints are trippy and were seen in lightweight, flouncy fabrics

3) Slouchy cardies Cardigans are a staple in the fall, but these are longer and were frequently worn over top of a blazer

4) High waisted skirts Short and with a flare, these skirts can be worn at work or out at night
