Last night the Polished Image Team (Robin Fisher, Christiana Greene, and Karla Ayala) co-hosted Fancy Little Things Fashion Show with Sisarina at Relic Restaurant and Lounge to support New Endeavors by Women.  We were also very fortunate to have the show live streamed by Yayastream!  (Check it out)

The event was a major success!  Over 200 attended as local designers and vendors showed their Fall/Winter 2010 collections.

The POLISHED team had the pleasure of working with Virdina and Kevin after they won the DCCWC $50K Green Wedding Giveaway for Earth Day 2010.  From the moment I met them, I instantly felt the love and companionship that they shared.   I am so delighted that their beautiful wedding and love story was featured on Essence Online last week.

Virdina and Kevin both received Full Bridal Style and Image Consultations for their wedding.  I was so touched when Virdina referred to me as a “Life Changer”.  Read what Virdina had to say about her consultation here.  Prior to winning the DCCWC Green Wedding Virdina had been shopping for wedding gown, however we were able to identify the perfect gown from her list based on her body type, personal scale, coloring, and wedding theme.  She was so excited the day we went to pick up her gown (read here).  POLISHED stylist Christiana Greene assisted Kevin with his attire, showing him that fit is key when picking the perfect tux.  Read what Kevin had to say about about his shopping experience with Christiana here.

I had a great time creating a style inspiration board for Virdina and Kevin that matched their unique sense of style and the Black Broadway theme of their wedding.  This story board served as a wardrobe style guide for their engagement shoot and wedding day looks.

The day of their consultation, Virdina and Kevin were still unsure about their wedding colors.  However after Virdina’s in-depth color analysis the perfect shade of  pink was chosen.  It is important for brides to choose their colors wisely.  Brides should choose a shade of a particular color that compliments them and communicates the feel of their wedding.  Remember, brides will be surrounded by these colors the day of their wedding, therefore beware of colors that are too strong (brides will get lost in the photographs) or too weak (will wash brides out in phototgraphs).

Behind the scenes, POLISHED stylists?Christy Greene and?Karla Ayala styled each individual model from hair & make-up to wardrobe with panache. (Bravo ladies!)?From avant-garde to classic styles, there was something for everyone to be mesmerized by! ?Local DC Fashion Bloggers & Tweeters all made an appearance including the always in high fashion diva,?The Capitol Fashionista and??The District Insider who strutted her stuff on the runway & many more!

Our very own Christiana, Stylist for POLISHED, has recapped last week’s Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2010 collection that featured both men and women’s designs. Known for his squeaky- clean, classic all-American designs, Tommy Hilfiger?s fall?collection?was named ?Preppy with a Pop? where he chose classic styles (circa 1985)and ?fused it with ?current ?pop? for women and men. Focused on ‘wearability’, Hilfiger chose ivy league-inspired?styles including khakis, flannel shorts, pea?coats and cardigans. Layered styles for women and men included?rich colors such as heather grey, camel, green, and navy, which are?perfect?for the fall, in all natural fabrics such as leather, cashmere, flannel?and?mohair. For women, snakeskin bags, duck boots and skinny belts were?common?among the accessories. Once again, Hilfiger knocked it out of Bryant Park and scored one for the modern prep!

Like a delicious Valentine’s day cupcake, it’s all about the frosting, so don’t skimp on frosting yourself in accessories! Everyone has heard of the “little black dress” (LBD), but what about the “little black shoe”? Matter of fact, what about the “little black statement shoe”? My favorite pair in the bunch are the Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 Patent Pumps (far upper right hand corner)…duh!! Next, are the Jil Sander suede platform court shoes (first row, second shoe) because they’re like an oxymoron—unique, yet plain…I like to call them conservatively funky. The YSL patent platform slingbacks (second row, far right) are my third fave…I’m a girly girl, so I adore the bow! Which one(s) do you like?
