{Marie Denee} Real Woman on the Rise…

Marie Denee is the Editor and Chief of  The Curvy Fashionista , a fashion lifestyle blog that caters to curvy plus size woman (size 14 and up).  When you start reading the blog, it’s obvious that her mission is to show plus size women are relevant in the fashion world.  They are not just curvy; they are also beautiful, confident, complex and savvy.  Marie Denee is also one of the co-founders of LA Full Figured Fashion Week (End).  I love Marie and her brand is fabulous!  I advise all curvy girls, and women  (including myself) to follow Marie Denee’s blog, Twitter stream, and Facebook page to stay on top of the hottest trends and designers.  Read Marie’s bio below:

Marie Denee is a plus size fashion and style expert. Experienced in retail for over ten years, working in various retail stores as a stylist, fashion expert, or assistant manager, Marie Denee lassoed her life experiences both studied and learned to bring her dream into fruition.

While working in retail, she observed the lack of fashionable options – the contemporary, highly fashioned, impeccably fitting, high quality fits that work for a woman’s curves.  Shopping became an art- learning how to sniff out the latest designers that “get it.”  Evidenced that she was not alone, which at times was a relief but even more a frustration, she questioned, “If there are women out here like me, why aren’t designers catering to our needs?”

Fast forward to her postgraduate days in college and her entree to store management, Marie Denee learned about the inner workings of retail and how choices are made to clothe the modern day fashionista.  Marie Denee dedicated her Masters to research what was available and who was available in the Plus Size industry to answer OUR plea. Thus, The Curvy Fashionista was born.  After completing her studies, Marie Denee set out to share with all the Curvy.Confident.Chic.  Fashionistas she could reach that “we CAN don the latest and greatest of trends, fashions, and styles that are made with US in mind!”

Since the launch of The Curvy Fashionista, Marie Denee has interviewed some of the industry’s leading designers, models, and pioneers as well as championed the latest fashion trends, entertainment news, and body image issues within the plus community. In addition to interviews, Marie Denee has had her hand in the production of the Bay Area’s Kiss the Curves fashion show and New York’s successful Full Figured Fashion Week™ and Week(end)™.  She continues to style plus size women and share fashion tips and trends on The Curvy Fashionista.

Marie Denee has also contributed as The Curvy Fashionista on plus size fashion trends and tips for Vogue Curvy, Signature 9, PLUS Model Magazine, Examiner.Com for Plus size fashion, Focus on Style, and The Fashionable Housewife amongst others.
