{Take it to the Max!} Tips for Selecting a Maxi Dress

By admin on May 10, 2010 with Comments 3

What’s long, ?is sometimes colorful and can been worn to the beach or out for an afternoon ice cream? If you guessed a maxi dress, then you guessed correctly! (Was the title a dead giveaway?)

The maxi dress is a spring/summer staple for your wardrobe – but we ?say this with caution. You must search for the length and style style that best fits your body type. ?Here are a few tips for you when shopping for a maxi:

1) If you are short… You must pay extra consideration to the silhouette and length in order to avoid looking like you are swimming in cloth and/or resembling a tent. We recommend an A-line silhouette – you want to ?keep the top of the dress as fitted as possible. Try this French Connection maxi or this DVF Zahiab maxi.

2) To cover a mid-section… select an empire style maxi is your best bet. Try finding one that has a little extra draping in the front like this goddess-like yellow number from Ted Baker or this embellished maxi from T-bags

3) Need more height? Pair a maxi with chunky wedges, gladiator sandals, or patent leather peep-toe pumps for some extra oomph in height!

Lanvin Crinkled Patent Heels, Nine West Bottles Up, Kate Spade Metro Wedge Sandal

4) Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize! Off set your maxi in a big way with chunky jewelry, oversized bags and a POLISHED favorite.. diva, oversized glasses
