{Robin’s Pick} How to Winterize a Spring Item

By admin on Feb 19, 2010 with Comments 1

It’s February and the two blizzards that paralyzed the DC area last week caused many to have severe cabin fever, which could only be cured by online shop-therapy. ?Despite the frigid weather it’s hard to resist purchasing those springy outfits when all the designers are parading their newest spring goods. No I can’t wait till it’s warmer – I need it now! l admit that I have fallen into this trap so many times, but last week was particularly bad when I just had to have this peachy pink, sleeveless shift dress complete with small lilac detailing from J.Crew- adorable.

Maybe my logic behind this purchase was that buying this dress would make spring come faster. ?The problem is when I finally received the dress in the mail, I didn’t think I could wear it anytime soon. ?How could I winterize this? I was stumped. What was a fashionista to do? Bring in the professional, Robin. Slightly annoyed with myself, I tweeted the dress to her asking how on earth I could pull this oh-so-springy ensemble off in the dead of winter. (Was that even possible?) ?In 40 short ?minutes, she had created a whole look on polyvore and directed me to this?ingenious?look.

Persephone - Valentines DayItems in this set:?Lilac shower shift dress – J.Crew Item 23930 Light Ginger, $70,?Coat, $1,930,?Boots|Shoes:High Heel Boots,Women’s Sexy Boots,Thigh High…, $22,?MARC JACOBS, 895 EUR,?ASOS | ASOS Croc Tuck Lock Clutch at ASOS, 225 SEK

Robin paired the shift dress with leggings (my favorite!) with these thigh-high boots or as I refer to them the ‘I have arrived’ boots. ?Since no outfit is polished without the necessary accessories, Robin selected this bangle set, light pink earrings and a bold ring. She choose two purse options: an oversized Marc Jacobs bag for day and this crocodile skin clutch for night. The cherry on top was this double-breasted, black jacket, which is essential in this bone-chilling weather. Voila! Robin performed her magic with a few clicks and an eye for fashion. It just goes to show you even a POLISHED gal needs a few lessons from the expert from time to time!
